STRUCTURAL DESIGN

FORENSIC ENGINEERING
Forensic engineering is the investigation of materials, products, structures or components that fail or do not operate or function as intended, causing damage to the structure. The consequences of failure are dealt with by the laws of construction and design liability. The subject is applied most commonly in civil law cases, although it may be of use in criminal law cases too. Generally, the purpose of a forensic engineering investigation is to locate cause or causes of failure with a view to improve performance or life of a component, or to assist a court in determining the facts of a failure incident.
BUILDING CODE REVIEW
A building code is a set of regulations adopted by a jurisdiction to define the design, construction, and materials that may be used to construct buildings and facilities with the goal of protecting the health, safety, and welfare of the public. Compliance with the code is administered by the authority having jurisdiction in the area, which may vary according to building type. Verifying that all aspects of the design comply with applicable building codes and guidelines is vital since the finished structure must comply with the codes. Based upon his vast experience, Syed Mehdi Ashraf has devised his own methods of the building code analysis to verify if a design is code compliant.

INSURANCE CLAIMS
We work with the Insurance companies to perform condition surveys of the damaged property, damage assessments, causes of damages, checking the code requirements for the retrofit, preparing reports, deposing and testifying in courts.
HISTORICAL BUILDING PRESERVATION
We perform condition assessment of the distressed concrete, order tests, map the cracks and spalls and prepare drawings, specifications and repair details. We also prepare bid documents, assist the Owner in the bid process, provide technical and project management during construction.

Building restoration describes a particular treatment approach and philosophy within the field of architectural conservation. Preservation is the act or process of accurately depicting the form, features, and character of a property as it appeared at a particular period of time by means of the removal of features from other periods in its history and reconstruction of missing features from the restoration period.
